Troop 1948 provides a complete Scouting experience in a Jewish context. We provide an environment in which Scouts of all levels of religious observance will be comfortable. The Troop is שומר שבת וכשרות (observes the Sabbath and the dietary laws) in all its activities so that all Jewish Scouts as well as other Saturday Sabbath observers can participate in, and benefit from, the Scouting program. Our Scouts represent a broad spectrum of religious observance and come from all parts of Montgomery County.

The Aims of the Boy Scouts of America are to build character, fitness, and citizenship. We accomplish this through the regular Scouting program of the Boy Scouts of America: indoor program (meetings and merit badges) and outdoor program (camping and hiking). Troop 1948, sponsored by Tikvat Israel Congregation, has a core of senior Scouts and experienced, trained adult leaders. Troop 1948 welcomes all interested boys, ages 11 through 17, regardless of religious affiliation or previous Scouting and/or outdoors experience.
